You know, maybe home sellers should take a cue from eBay. They charge a smaller listing fee if you start your auctions at $0.99 instead of $1.00. So I start all my auctions at $0.99. Just sold a BROKEN used laptop for about $400. Sheesh.

It looked like a decent deal until you panned up to the free clothes line in the back yard. The fact that the place sold for 500k at the end of 2003 shows how crazy things had gotten by then.

I was thinking that place had potential until I saw the master bath. The sad part is, somebody paid a lot of money for that disaster of a bathroom and it has to be torn out and redone.

The asking price data for most major cities in the US at Housing Tracker shows that asking prices are going back into a downward phase after this summer’s short rally. How low will they go?

about $280/sf in Carlsbad, sounds typical these days, maybe even low. I bet it sells. When I was looking I couldn’t find anything under $500K in Carlsbad (detached) that wasn’t a tiny fixer (worse than this one)
How did (does) junk like this ever get built?? Shouldn’t cities have a quality factor veto and just say “sorry, the power lines and layout are not suitable for SFDs”? Which brings me to another point… above ground power lines? Why? Ever? Cheapskates in previous years!!!

For the high tension power lines it’s far easier to put them above ground rather than below. They are also more reliable and easier to surface. I also wouldn’t want those power lines running underneath my property where SDGE needs to put holes in my yard. The last point is that was likely the middle of nowhere when the power lines were put up.
