The Internet was predicted to eliminate middlemen. Instead it has enabled the creation of entire classes of new middlemen (middleware? Oops, already taken!) who are happy to take a 20% cut of most any activity.

Or for example look at the price of renting a truck for a day from say enterprise. It is acutally lower than the cost of delivery from big box stores. If you do a bit of planning you can get a lot done in a day with a number of trips. And consider that enterprise will pick you up and drop you off so you don’t have to get to their stores. In my town a small pickup goes for 71 a day and a full sized pickup for 79. (Of course you have to do the loading and driving)
Also a great way for the ladies as an alternative to Tinder to meet some possibly eligible men with proven entrepreneurial spirit! After the move, invite them in for a sampling of your lemonade and avocado toast and… who knows? Motivated gals need to think outside the box.

Not the elimination of middle-men. They’ve been around since tribal leaders needed someone to rough up the riff raff. That’s inherent in our makeup, and is never going away. The internets just reduces the monopoly of middle-men. Google is huge, but you don’t have to use it for search. Today, I can buy a new car, and the only thing a car salesman will have to do with me is handing me paper’s to sign.
