We have known Jim & Donna Klinge for over a dozen years, having met them in Carlsbad where our children went to the same school. As long time North County residents, it was a no- brainer for us to have the Klinges be our eyes and ears for San Diego real estate in general and North County in particular. As my military career caused our family to move all over the country and overseas to Asia, Europe and the Pacific, we trusted Jim and Donna to help keep our house in Carlsbad rented with reliable and respectful tenants for over 10 years.
Naturally, when the time came to sell our beloved Carlsbad home to pursue a rural lifestyle in retirement out of California, we could think of no better team to represent us than Jim and Donna. They immediately went to work to update our house built in 2004 to current-day standards and trends — in 2 short months they transformed it into a literal modern-day masterpiece. We trusted their judgement implicitly and followed 100% of their recommended changes. When our house finally came on the market, there was a blizzard of serious interest, we had multiple offers by the third day and it sold in just 5 days after a frenzied bidding war for 20% above our asking price! The investment we made in upgrades recommended by Jim and Donna yielded a 4-fold return, in the process setting a new high water mark for a house sold in our community.
In our view, there are no better real estate professionals in all of San Diego than Jim and Donna Klinge. Buying or selling, you must run and beg Jim and Donna Klinge to represent you! Our family will never forget Jim, Donna, and their whole team at Compass — we are forever grateful to them.

Jim – Thank you for being a strong voice of exceptional reason and logic.
Fellow agent here. I read your blog from time to time and I always enjoy it. You are very informative and not just your customers/clients. More agents should read it for sane ideas in an insane industry.
Jim- you convinced me years ago – I recall reading many years back and always apply what you mentioned in your video. Sometimes Agents are incredulous when I tell them exactly what I have on the table when I have a listing. I have noticed more and more are coming around. I just had a listing where in one week over 100 showings and ended w/20 offers. I told every Agent and Buyer exactly what we had and when we had it. I kept all informed up unto the moment our offer deadline hit. It was truly insane how much activity I received on this listing. I knew it was going to be crazy but this one was for the ages. Some of the Buyers I spoke with straight up asked me if I would be their Agent whether it was this listing or when they purchased another. I’m pretty sure it was because I was totally honest about everything. I’m fortunate as my life is quite good and I am in a position where I can just help people buy and sell properties without drama or personal need. It makes it more than a business for me as over the years good honest relationships sustained me. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again – Jim Klinge for CAR President. You would be a great leader. It is quite evident you already are which is why your clients are so loyal and you have so many. You are probably the hardest working and smartest Agent around and it shows. Oh, and you dress well too & that is a breath of fresh air. Appreciate your blog and honesty and wish you and your family the best dude!

Thanks Paul!
If I was elected president of CAR, on the first day I would fire everyone, burn the joint to the ground, and send all the dues money back to the realtors and tell them to spend it on a Dale Carnegie sales course!
I am a Dale Carnegie graduate from… guess? 2000s? No. 1990s? No. 1980s? No. Answer: 1976-77.
Your parents were smart to enroll you at such a young age! 🙂
I’m a 1990 grad.
1990 grad…
I am not surprised. you are correct that for a 17yo it was valuable life experience. That said, I earned the scholarship for the program not my parents.
