This is where the revolution begins of the lower- and middle-class vs. the rich…..and these guys are inciting it. Their advertising will likely be incendiary!

This will chase business out of California!! This will create more of a housing shortage!!! Why are we hurting ourselves. This does not create more tax dollars! It reduces the tax collected!!! Apartment building (because they are safe ) sell at a 2 to 3.5 %return for the owners. Cut that income in half, and see how many new apartments are built. Watch the tax base get smaller.

This is a big mistake! It’s written with no knowledge of economics!

Just in Los Angeles we need 500,000 more homes!!! The City and the State have already raised costs to build! We are creating a green State on the backs of the poor!

This is just a new blow to the lower and middle class. We can do better!!!

Things like this have stopped me from building more apartments. The cost are so high there is already no profit in it.

You want more apartments to be built in the State? Don’t raise the tax on already over burdened owners!

This bill only make building single family homes a place for builders to go. Well what about the rest of the public that cant afford single family homes!!!!

First they came for the uber rich but I wasn’t rich so I did nothing.

Then they came for the very rich but I wasn’t rich so I did nothing.

Then they came for the merely rich but I didn’t think I was rich so I did nothing.

    I was wrong.

In June 1932 a newspaper in Marietta, Georgia used the label “old saying” when reprinting the expression and added a comical remark about the expanding tax base:

“Congress, Congress, don’t tax me; tax that man behind the tree” is an old saying, but Congress has cleared up the situation by not only taxing the man, but also the tree.

robert garfield, it sounds like you have experience building apartments in CA. Could you please provide specific details on how cities and the state increase building costs? Have you read the “LIMITS LOCAL RESTRICTIONS ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT” section of the proposition? Does it do anything to address your cost complaints?

if only it also included re-assessing corporate owned commercial property

  7. Jim the Realtor

I think it does include all properties. Can you imagine the process of re-assessing to current value?

So…the State would have to spend $15B to possibly save $15B?
