After six long days…..the blog is back!

It was a harrowing journey.

Bluehost has been hosting this blog for the last nine years. I suspected that turbulence was building – movement on my dashboard kept slowing down, and I think you may have felt the sluggishness too.

On Friday, their meltdown began, and I only had intermittent service until Monday afternoon when it went out altogether.

WordPress is the company that provides the platform for the blog. I hired a consulting company called WP Tangerine a few months ago to fix stuff and make improvements, and I asked them on Friday to spring into action and help fix the problem.

When trying to get Bluehost to explain and repair the problem on Friday, they were quick to blame me instead. So WP-T suggested WP Engine as a new host, and we began the transition.

Somehow on Monday afternoon, the break between hosts caused my domain registrar GoDaddy to sense an opportunity and they hung a for-sale sign in my window:

I was incensed, yet even their senior management couldn’t see any problem. All they kept saying was that they would bring me offers, but I wasn’t obligated to sell my blog domain. But wait – I’m just changing hosts, I’m not for sale! Think about how my readers would feel when they arrived to see my shop closed up and being sold off for parts!

But the transition is now complete (I think), and we can get moving again!

Thanks for your patience!
