Downtown Carlsbad Sale

Another bummer for those who value the quaint old downtown – especially the donut lovers!

A multi-tenant retail center in Carlsbad Village has been sold for $7.36 million, according to brokerage officials.

Benchmark Pacific Ltd. II, represented by Commercial Asset Advisors, sold the 13,000-square-foot center, located at 2805-2855 Roosevelt St. and 570-596 Grand Ave., to The Caine Group Inc., represented by Joe Brady of Urban Property Group.

“Carlsbad Village is one of the most dynamic and gentrifying neighborhoods in North County – and this property is right in the heart of it,” said CAA Principal Mike Conger.

“The sale,” he continued, “achieved the seller’s goals while allowing the buyers an opportunity to acquire a unique asset that was under private family ownership for almost 20 years.”

oh, awesome!! so looking forward to yet another modern 4 story retail/residential AirBnB monstrosity taking away housing inventory from an area that desperately needs more housing inventory for its residents. /s

What does anyone expect? The land is intended for this and zoned for mixed-use which to me is far better than more sprawl and destruction of natural areas like most of Carlsbad.

Also, short term vacation rentals are only allowed in the coastal zone so this site would not be allowed to have AirBnB.

I like the changes and new energy in Carlsbad Village. You enjoy the donuts, I’ll enjoy Lofty Coffee, dinner at Jeune et Jolie and a killer breakfast at the original kickstarter for the change, Cafe Topes.

Of course, you like the change. You’re one of the multi-millionaires who are causing the upheaval.

The Carlsbad residents who have witnessed the changes over the last 10-50 years can’t believe what’s happening right before their eyes. But once they are gone, the new people will consider the sterile multi-story buildings acceptable. It’s gentrification, live and in living color.

    Signed, Donut Guy
