Newer in Funky Town

This year we have seen the bigger bombers selling in Leucadia for $1.2 million and up. If you are looking for a newer house with an ocean view, and are at one with the greenhouses, here’s an alternative (with map) :

I’ve seen these homes and they’re pretty close together and not my favorites.

We shall see how Seaside/Toxic Estates sell and for how much…

    Any guesses?

I’ve never lived near a plant nursery/greenhouse. What makes them a bad neighbor? Is it just that some find them unsightly or that they are a commercial property?

I know the slab stone is high-end, but I don’t like it.

Living near a greenhouse isn’t bad and I didn’t mind them in the 18 years I lived in Leucadia and when I’m home, I don’t mind them either.

I like the “funkyness” of Leucadia and the diversity….some do, some don’t. But a lot of people are buying high-end homes in the area, so I guess they don’t mind either.

  5. Water's End Owner

    Hello Jim,
I’ve been a loyal (yet quiet) reader for years and I am a big fan.

However, why such the hatred for Water’s End? I’ve seen you here 3 times in the past 2 years (you just showed a house here to clients 2 weeks ago – we saw you) SO it must not be THAT bad!!

Yes, it’s track (it is So Cal after all) but let’s face it, it is only a few blocks from the ocean, it’s a nice gated community that’s perfect for young families (pool, playgound, etc), it’s close to the 5 so no inland commute, AND it’s reasonably priced at $650-775K.

Where else would you advise someone to live with those attributes in that price range (4 bedrooms too)?

Finally, the proof is in the pudding…listings popped up in here like wildflowers over the summer and you know what, most were purchased (except for a few that are under-cared for/overpriced). Also, some of the prices were impressive.

Just because you may not want to live here doesn’t mean it’s not a great neighborhood for others – like possibly the clients you took here a few weeks ago:)

Like I said, these houses SELL. Would you turn down my listing if I gave it to you?

    Thanks for listening.

Hatred? All I said was that Water’s End doesn’t have a view and they were a more basic construction.

But your comments are duly noted.

I still hope to sell one in there this year!
