Thanks to the drought, a bathtub intertwined with the kitchen is a housing innovation that’s time has come. You can take a bath, and get the dishes done at the same time.

People need to start thinking outside of the tub.

    LOL @ daytrip’s suggestion!

There are obvious reasons I wish my much-younger husband–who was a finish carpenter–was still alive today. But I wish he were here to see these 21 photos. He wouldn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Scott designed our home when we lived in Bend, OR back in 2000. We built the 2,200sf home with the help of our kids and other subs he worked with. We put radiant floor heating throughout the entire home. I remember other subs coming by in the neighborhood because they were intrigued as to what the heck we were doing with the flooring day after day.

Only a few weeks after we moved in, Scott got a confirmed Hodgkins cancer diagnosis. His long cancer battle and how everything changed in a 30-second phone call (“So it’s cancer?”) made me instantly learn to embrace the present–as that’s all you really have.

We had a perfect life until we didn’t.

It was a hard choice, but my fav design flaw is the kitchen w/ shower/toilet. Just think you could make your little kids’fav homemade spaghetti w/ sauce, sit ’em at the table to nom nom, then throw them in the shower for a quick rinse and on to the toilet before carting them off to bed.

Can’t wait to plow through the 30 RE photos that can’t be real, but are. Mahalo for the chuckles, JtR..
