I agree – red for the front door only:

    The “Lexus Kitchen” replacement at the Dawghaus is going with medium wood cabinets. You can go darker wood or paint of any color but you cannot unpaint to get wood.

    Why “Lexus Kitchen”? That’s what it will cost.

    Anything less than a Lexus is just a tune-up, and not nearly as effective in wow factor.

    And the Andrewa’s residence kitchen is staying just the same as it has since 1925. Solid Oregon pine, custom made. To replace it today would cost more than a Lexus as the only replacement wood is either second hand or available only at great expense imported from New Zealand.

    It is the weirdest meeting of the minds. They seem to think 4″ LED lighting is exotic and worth a premium. I’d think what else would you use in a new kitchen? Ceramic that looks like travertine is not about saving money. Why would anyone use travertine stone in a kitchen? They are trying to impress me with stuff that doesn’t matter.

    @Rob,
    Well I must admit to placing a 4 metre strip of LEDs under my top cupboards to illuminate the workspace nicely, but they are only visible when powered up 🙂

    A few years, a house sat ‘for sale’ in our neighborhood. The price seemed right and was getting lots of foot traffic. However, the wife was a designer and on her last remodel she used lots of RED. Everything from RED kitchen sinks to RED interlaced floor tile to RED accent walls. The front door was not RED.

    The house sat for months in a ‘hood where a week or two is the norm. They finally sold it for about 10% below asking. Even price will fix RED.
