He paid $4,455,000, which is enough to get you oceanfront around here.

Kliff Kingsbury’s “war room” probably puts most others to shame.

During the 2020 NFL Draft, fans got live looks at the draft rooms for various coaches and team personnel throughout the league. The ESPN broadcast showed that of Bengals coach Zac Taylor, whose team had the first overall pick.

But the Cardinals’ team Twitter account showed off Kingsbury’s home war room, which appeared to be in his living room.

Kingsbury, 40, sat in his Paradise Valley home with a nice view of Camelback Mountain in the background. He was laid back, his feet on the coffee table as he was fixated on the television, relaxed as Arizona held the No. 8 selection.

Why go to Forest Lawn when you can bring Forest Lawn to you?

Because of all the Super Bowl rings on display?

Whenever I go to satellite views of Greater Phoenix I just shake my head.

Yeah, ahhh I didn’t see any championship trophies, coach-of-the-years, etc.

Houses in this area were selling for 1/10 the price when I lived there.

That was my first reaction. Then I shook it off as me being and old fuddy duddy.

Thing is the reasons for these types being worth a half million back then are all gone. There’s humidity and traffic and cities.

I knew right where this was when I saw the photo with Camelback Mtn in the background.

It reminded me of the time when I was driving my 1953 Willys CJ3B down Lincoln Dr when my steering box fell off (it was a project vehicle).

With no steering, I careened off the road and leveled a mailbox, but jammed the brakes on just in time before hitting the house.

The residents called me a tow truck and off I went.

That’s the Phoenix living I remember!

My cousin lives at the base of Camelback. Just about at the corner of the fireplace in the picture. When I emigrated from New England to SoCal in the early 80s few if the east-west roads above Lincoln were paved.
